Seeking a Development Intern
The G.R.A.C.E. (Global Response to African Children’s Education) Project, Inc. is seeking an an intern to assist with marketing, outreach and development activities. The length of the internship is flexible (3 months - 1+years) but applicants should be able to work in the Newark, NJ metro area. Mission of The G.R.A.C.E. Project, Inc
The G.R.A.C.E. Project, Inc. is a non-profit organization with its headquarters located in the United States. Grace Project’s mission is: To invest in the future of poor children in Sub-Saharan Africa by providing them with affordable quality education, basic healthcare, nutritional food and a home for those that have been orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS and other tragedies.” Develop joint educational and cross-cultural programs for school children in sub-Saharan Africa and those in the United States of America.
The G.R.A.C.E. Project, Inc – Goals:
- Create an affordable Kenya Boarding School for children who are underprivileged and marginalized, especially displaced youth and those orphaned by AIDS. The Kenya Boarding school will be for children grades 4-8;
- Create ongoing educational resources (i.e. tutoring center, library, after school homework center, etc.) to support the educational development and success of every child;
- Develop and administer ongoing scholarship funds for poor children;
- Develop and operate a community health center that offers medical and other health related services to the children in the community; and
- Develop and maintain current technological resources.
- Provide meals to needy children.
Responsibilities include:
- Grant research and proposal writing
- Creating marketing materials (including PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, etc.)
- Conducting outreach in order to inform the general public of the issue of education inequality in Kenya, outreach to organizations in search of opportunities to collaborate on the G.R.A.C.E. Project.
- Interns may also be involved with organizing fundraising events and planning future fundraising strategy.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- A self-starter who can work independently.
- Prior project prior proposal writing and grant research experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite – Computer Skills.
- Knowledge and experience in utilizing technology for managing projects.
